OAP Caregiver Mediated Early Years Program (Central Region - York/Simcoe)

Solid Beginnings - Project ImPACT (Improving Parents as Communication Teachers)

  • parents are primary partners

  • training & coaching process

  • blend of developmental and naturalistic behavioural intervention techniques (applied behaviour analysis - ABA)

  • uses strategies to improve your child’s social-communication skills during regular daily routines

Available to parents of children who are:

  • 1 - 3 years of age (12-48 months)

  • diagnosed with Autism

  • must already be registered in the OAP & have received an invitation letter

Key areas of learning include:

  • social interaction

  • communication

  • imitation

  • play

  • self-help skills

Parent group training sessions:

  • weekly or bi-weekly for 6 weeks

  • includes 6 individual coaching sessions,

  • virtual or in-person;

  • additional coaching & support for long-term learning (maintenance) and transition to other environments
